Because Maemo targets handheld devices, the user-interface has a clearly defined layout, and always shows fully maximized application windows, so the user can usually only see one application at a time. The following figure shows the whole UI. Most important for you as an application developer is the application area. This is were you can place your widgets. On the Nokia N770/N800/N810, the size of the application area is 672x396 pixels without a toolbar, 672x360 with a toolbar, and 672x310 with both an application toolbar and a find-toolbar. The user can also press the fullscreen button to enlarge the application area to 800x480 pixels (without a toolbar).
